FIRST-TIME HOMEBUYER TAX CREDIT (USA)
If you purchased your home in 2008, 2009, or 2010, you may be eligible for the first-time homebuyer tax credit. The tax credit expired as of September 30, 2010 (military personnel may be eligible for an extension). Credit amounts differ depending on year of purchase: up to $7,500 in 2008, and up to $8,000 in 2009/10. For 2008 purchases, the credit is similar to a no-interest loan and must be paid back in installments. To confirm eligibility, go to www.irs.gov.
